Metal-free crowns

Metal free crowns or metal free ceramic represent a kind of highly aesthetic restorations entirely made of ceramic. They can imitate the natural characteristics of teeth and can leak light as the natural tooth. Metal free ceramic crowns ideally fit into the dental arch, especially in situations when not all teeth are restored but only some of them and it is not possible to distinguish one from the other. They are made of biocompatible materials, which means that they do not cause any reaction of the surrounding tissues but they enable the shaping of gingiva as with natural teeth. They represent the compound of superiour quality and durability of restorations. Mechanical properties of metal free ceramic are similar to those of metal-ceramic crowns, but the benefits are far greater.

Metal-ceramic crowns in theit interior have metal alloys, on which ceramic is applied from the outside in order to achieve aesthetic effects. Thus, with metal- ceramic crowns there is the possibility of appearance of the grey edge in the shape of the half moon at the turn of the tooth, when in time the gums begin to recede. With metal free ceramic crowns that cannot happen, for the very interior of the crown is in the colour of the tooth, and because of that gums recede will not damage the aesthetic effect.
